Week 9 Disscussion Question 1

1). What was useful about the Cause and Effect website reading and exercises?

I think some of the most helpful things that I learned for the cause and effect website exercises was that not matter what the effect is there is always going to be a cause. That when they gave me the question about that happened to the employees at the picnic no matter what the cause was they had a different cause. I think that is essential to know this. These are types of things that happen in everyday life. For example when I clicked answer c – all of the employees ate the same potato salad which causes them all to leave the picnic early meaning while they eat different amounts of the potato salad they all got sick and left early. If I also clicked B- they all still ate the potato salad and got sick and left early. I learned that no matter what if you have a effect you must have a cause and if you have a cause you have a effect. They are always together.

  1. You explained everything perfectly. After I read over the website article and then your blog post I had a much better understanding of the topic. Your example was great as well as your posting was well organized and well written. It was easy to follow and easy to understand. You are completely right when you say the important concept to learn is that no matter what there are always a cause and always an effect. You cannot have one without the other. You picked a great topic to discuss because like you said it doesn’t occur in everyday life and I think since it is so important that people should know about this and read up on the topic.

  2. I enjoy reading your post. I agree there is going to be a cause no matter what the effect is. It was really useful about this reading and it helped a lot in understanding and go more in depth in Epstein's text. I'm not sure if they give out different exercises but I got the same one. It was a little bit tricky because somehow it seems like they all connect and some are off. What I really liked is that the answers from the example were casual claims. The reading was short and helpful and you did a great job explaining what you thought was useful to you. Keep up the good job!

  3. Your post was great. I really enjoyed the way you explained the exercises. The picnic example they used was helpful especially since it is so relative to the actual real world. Like you said, this example helped us realize that in order to have an effect there must be a cause. I like the way you put it. Because usually we assume there is an effect after the cause. But we need a cause in order to even have an effect. Very well stated and great post! I feel like we are both on the same page! Great blog!
